The Great Blue Heron is the largest member of the heron family.  They often stand more that a meter in height and their wingspan is almost two meters wide.  They have grey blue plumage, an S-shaped neck, black crown and shoulders.  During breeding season, they exhibit long plums from their black crowns and on their necks and chest.
